cThis month we will explore the art of chanting. We will use the Om Ah Hum mantra as our chant, which symbolizes the purification of body, speech, and mind. In this chant we will experience sound and vibration to enhance our meditative awareness - something humans have been inherently drawn to since ancient times. In the chanting style we will practice, we will learn to send the vibrations of each sound to different areas in and around our minds and bodies, through varying our tone and directing the vibrations by manipulating our “inner instrument.” NO SINGING SKILLS REQUIRED! While this practice has a wonderful musicality, it is a meditation and not a performance, so please do not worry or feel self-conscious. In fact, chanting is a great way to get us out of our heads and into an unhindered flow (plus, many voices together always sounds nice). The session will include explanations, instructions, and practice prior to the chanting.
